Madison Art Society 40th Annual Art Exhibition and Sale

The Madison Art Society will present its 40th Annual Art Exhibition and Sale at the Scranton Memorial Library May 4 - 29.  The high quality exhibition celebrating works in a variety of media, is a juried show open to Connecticut artists.  This year's juror is Zufar Bikbov, a well known plein air oil painter.

In conjunction with the show, several events are planned and all are open to the public.

Thursday, May 7, 5-7 p.m., Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony
Thursday May 14, 6 p.m., Oil painting demonstration by this year's juror Zufar Bikbov.   Bikbov's main focus will be on plein air painting.  Classically trained in art and medicine he came to the United States from Russia in 2004.  He states, "I love to work with oils, which allow me to be flexible and deeply expressive."
Wednesday, May 206:30-8:30 p.m., Guilford Poets Guild will share original poems inspired by selected artworks from the show.  This is always a special event for poets, artists and appreciators of both.

All events will be held in the community room of the library.

The Madison Art Society is dedicated to the promotion of the arts along the Shoreline.  Throughout the year they offer their 250 members a variety of exhibition opportunities as well as enriching experiences such as an active plein air painting group, winter studio, and an annual trip to a major museum. They also host artist's demonstrations and lectures at which the public is welcome. A portion of sales from exhibits is donated to support the library and other community groups.
